Allister Adel was appointed as Maricopa County Attorney on Oct. 3, 2019 by Maricopa County Board of Supervisors.
Adel began her legal career at the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office, where she was an award-winning litigator prosecuting felonies and advocating for victims’ rights. During her more than seven years as a Deputy County Attorney, she served in the Vehicular Crimes, Gang, and Drug Enforcement bureaus. She was then appointed to executive level leadership positions in Arizona State government from 2011 to 2015. As the Chief Administrative Law Judge for the Arizona Department of Transportation and later as General Counsel for the Arizona Department of Child Safety, Adel worked to build coalitions and improve policies to help the agencies achieve their mission. Adel was Executive Director of the Maricopa County Bar Association from 2016 – 2018.
Adel is Past President of Phoenix Rotary 100 and in 2020 will serve as Chair of the Board of Directors for the 100 Club. Adel received her Law Degree from the Arizona State University Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law and Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science from the University of Arizona.
